I'm commencing this same route next week, except I'm going to Finisterre then to Muxia and back to SDC! I was supposed to go last Sept., but had to cancel due to knee surgery. SO excited to go! I'll post about it when I get home!

Anyone else thinking of doing this route, early September?
If so, good luck, we may see each other on the way.

Sorry to hear about the op, last September I was walking the from Burgos. Where I actually met a dutch chap who was in his words running an experiment, testing out his new hip! Really decent chap, he successfully finish his 500km having had hip replacement surgery.
Excellent, please post along the route if you can, keep us all updated on your progress.
Are you following the beach route from Porto?
Have fun and good luck
I´m in Ponte de Lima using free internet access at the library! What a beautiful, quaint town. So much so that I´m staying an extra day! Found a great room for 20€/night, which is very cheap for a pension so far! Private bath, kitchen access, t.v., queen bed, laundry facilities, sun terrace! Very exciting after a few albergues!I did take the coastal route out of Porto. Beautiful walk along the beach, some on the beach (my choice)! The downfalls? Never saw another pilgrim, no albergues so you have to pay for hotels/pensions, and from town to the main route on the next day... not waymarked at all!! I´m already directionally-challenged, so I was very lost. Breirley´s book was inaccurate woth directions. Somehow, I made it. Dumb luck, actually, but I did add a few kilometers to the route! No locals seem to have ever heard of the Caminho, so getting any directions/assistance was out of the question. Now I´m back on the route and there are yellow arrows every 50 meters!

Sounds like you're having a good time, I intend to take the beach route too. With regard to pilgrim and locals perhaps it's still a little early in the season for the camino? I'll remember to bring a compass and secondary map. Good luck, keep us all posted on your grand adventure!
